Massey 35 Perkins diesel cranks well but won?t start

Hi all, new to YT as well as fairly new to working on them. I recently bought a Massey 35 Perkins diesel tractor with hopes of getting it to run. It sat in a field for an unknown number of years but still turns over great. It will crank and smoke (white/grey) out the exhaust but fails to start. I?ve bled the fuel system to the injectors already. Took off the valve cover and turned it by hand and noticed I only seem to feel the resistance of the compression stroke while the valves for the cyl closest to rear of the tractor are closed. Zero/very little compression in other two cylinders possibly? I got two stories about this tractor, one guy said it had a cracked sleeve, his brother said cracked block. Doesn?t seem to have oil/coolant contamination that would be expected with a cracked block or blown head gasket etc. Any ideas what to check next? I have a tendency to go deeper into a project then needed at times so I figured I would ask first. Thanks
