3rd shifter on Massey 135

I purchased a 135 that has a shifter lever on top of transmission case behind the gear shifter under the seat. What is that for? It says 4 WT next to it as part of the transmission casting. It?s a 3 cylinder perkins diesel with multi-power.

It's not a remote valve? Sometimes those had a lever right behind the shifters.
 
No. It?s not a hydraulic valve. It looks just like the high low range
shifter. I?ll take a picture when I get a chance to share. I?ve never
seen this before.

From the picture you posted it looks like an extra gear set up has been added between the transmission and the rear end.
 
The extra gear lever mounted on the transmission/centre housing spacer was normally an optional creeper gearbox. They are very rare and can only ever recall seeing another on a 165 in my 44 years with MF servicing. I don't think that they are even mentioned in the parts books.

It was one of the reasons I bought it. I had never seen one either. And I cannot find anything related to this modification anywhere.

I?d say it is very similar, especially in operation, but the shifter on this
one is on top. That one is on the side.
 
It should have 4WT on top of the gear box by the shifter (4WT, a company name), and that box is pretty rare (I know they also made some for some Ford tractors also). They also a made a 4 wheel drive kit for MF, and possibly Ford tractors, rare stuff.
