1969 Massey 150, Perkins gasser

Just looked at a 150 Massey with the perkins gas motor shows 2022 hours on a working tach, cosmetically very straight with faded paint 3x2 trans no multi-power. I am looking for any input or experience with these tractors and what decent price would be.

I've had my 150 for several years. It exceeds my needs. Much better power steering system than the 135. If it has the IPTO make sure you test it. The internal hyd clutch plate system can be a problem is it has been abused. It has two pumps. There is a text port on the left side to check pressure, 125 psi is good.

Tom do you know why a pto would stay engaged on a Massey 180 with IPTO? I don?t think it is a worn brake because I could not stop the pto shaft with a 2x4 wedge.

Seems like my 3 point lift only goes half way up as well.

A little background on the tractor, I got it last fall with a locked up engine and I rebuilt it over the winter. I do not know how long it sat prior to me getting it but it was definitely outside in the rain for many years

The most common cause of IPTO not disengaging is warped discs in the clutch pack. In the case of this tractor it could also be rust. Either way it will probably have to be split and the clutch pack overhauled.

I don't think the 1XX series agricultural tractors were available with IPTO unless they had Muliti-Power. The 3165 was available that way.

1; IPTO clutch, Two thoughts, clutch plates rusted together. Previous owner ran driven equipment with low pressure to IPTO (plugged filter) welding plates together. The lift cover will need to come off to inspect clutch pack. Maybe lucky and work pates apart with small pry bar. The lift cover must be removed to access the two filters. (see photo) You also MUST drain oil to lower bolt level on right side cover. Remove cover. Then remove cam roller before lifting cover. The brake is not designed to stop equipment, but rather to hold PTO shaft while not in use. I use a over-running clutch on mine when running brush cutter.

2; Lift half way, With load or nothing on 3-point? This is probably a adjustment of internal linkage. I can't help there. Mine works fine. Also, there is a test port on lift cover to check main pump pressure, should be around 1800-2200 psi, don't quote me on that. May be rings in the lift cylinder, but I think not.

The tractor will need to be separated between the transmission and rear end housing. The PTO clutch pack is right behind the main hydraulic pump.

Learn something every day. I had to get into the M-P and IPTO on the 1968 165 I had back in 1976. The dealer told me then that IPTO wasn't available without M-P on those tractors.

Thank you, what all needs disconnected in the rear housing before I can lift the top cover? I know of the tube with the O-ring coming up to the cover but is there anything else?

I would suggest starting a new thread or search the forum. Much has been discussed on this subject. Also obtain a service manual.

As I stated before, drain oil below the bottom bolts on right side cover. Remove cover, remove cam follower roller (see photo) for location. I don't have a photo of the linkage/roller in place. DO NOT remove the four nuts below the seat, they hold the lift cylinder to cover. Remove lift arms to reduce weight. Lift cover slightly, move forward a little then up/out.

Well i finally got the 150 home sorry not pictures yet but I ended up getting it for $2800. Does anyone have any ideas what parts would be needed to get the fender lights back to original condition I know it seems trivial but these square generic lights are bugging the s#$t out of me. Also seems to need a fuel shut off solenoid but i cant find one any where.

Sorry no pictures but yes they are fender mounted lights flat top fenders. Thanks for the part number but do you happen to know where i vould get one
