I got this filter base from SSI Diesel in the UK, it's a lot better than the adaptors, here's the one I put one my 135.
The old filter vs the new!

I have a 135 with perkins gas engine and I was having issues with the glass bowl sealing. I was also not willing to buy a new one as they are quite expensive. I got rid of it and threaded a inline filter into the carb. I believe the filter is for a late 70's ford truck but thread size is same as the carb.

A few more things as well. The spin on filters will cost more as well. Need to get a spin on with micron rating to match, or better, of the cartridge filter. Set will likely be longer than the current set up, so need to check clearance below the current set up.

I'll keep using the cartridge filters.

There are several conversion kits available. The store for this site may have them. Wix, and likely some others, use your old base with adapters. Some of the single kits change the whole base, that option may be available for the duals if you research it. The Wix number for one adapter kit is 24038, NAPA is 4038.

I think the reason some have trouble is there are two large O ring sizes, and a fellow has to be careful using the larger one in the base groove. I don't mind changing those filters, but I've done it for years too. Spin on filters do spoil a fellow though..

Hello, I would agree that you have to be carefull. In my 45 years of fitting these filters I have always compared the length as soon as I take them out of the box. The longest one always goes at the top. The material in the rings has changed slightly in the last 20 years or so and it can make them a little more difficult to seat. Non-genuine filter bodies are available although I have had some problems getting a seal at the pipe fittings. It is almost as if the face and thread are not perpendicular. Probably plenty of alternative filter set ups around but then you will probably have difficulty matching fittings and threads.
