Massey 165

Picked up a Massey 165 this weekend. 4 speed trans, live pto, dual stage clutch, power steering, Larin Heated cab. Unfortunately no serial number. just over 3900 hours, no smoke, runs great. $2800.00. I think i did well, still checking everything over, appears to be a very nice little tractor. I have never had live pto, is this good or bad?

Personally, I prefer the 2 stage clutch on the smaller Masseys to the IPTO. I had a 165 with IPTO and it was very unpredictable engaging and disengaging. It also wore out the splines on the outer trans. input shaft and matching hub twice in 4000 hours. The 2 stage clutch is a good working unit when properly adjusted.

Probably one of the best tractors made by Massey. Good score, nice looking machine.

Hi, nice looking cab. Never seen one of that make before. Tractor looks good too. Check the steering ball joints and in particular the bushes on the front main vertical shaft whether power steering or not. Work the steering back and forth as you look for play. If bushes/shaft worn on manual it will wander on the road. If power, assistance will be reduced.

Looks good for the price, although I'd prefer a 175 as the 236 has a balancer the 203 never had. Brother used to tease dad, the 165 we had shook just enough the fender radio came loose a lot. Never had that problem on the 180.

Does the 4 spd have the belly pump for remotes on one of those?

$2800 for a 165 with a diesel, and a cab!! you stole that one!!!!! Even if it needs some money put into it, like let's say it needs $3000 worth of stuff done to it, and if you add the $2800 to that you still can't get a tractor with a cab for that amount of money.

Square axel, yes. Not sure on the Tire size, been too darned cold to look at it since I got it home. it is cozy in the barn. I won't be using this one until summer, although, with the nice heated cab, thinking it is going to get snowblower duty next year. Tires are loaded

That is what I thought, so far very happy with the deal. Needs a new battery and cables. The windshield wiper actually works, needs new lights, and the fan for the heat is not currently working, should be
easy fix. So far, seems to be a very good tractor. was shocked to get it for that price.
