Whats this

So when I split my tractor I find this seal slid up on the input shaft of the transmission. I dont think this is supposed to be there I cant find it listed in any of the books. Has anyone ever seen this. It just slides back and forth on the shaft.

Thar seal is SUPPOSED to stay on the retainer casting. Several retainers and seals have been used on MP tractors, not sure about the early models.

Does Seal retainer fit inside bore?

MF made retainers with both ID seal bore, and some the seal case fit over the retainer lip. Could be it's the wrong seal he has. If seal does fit over the lip, the release bearing holder would still go over the seal too if correct parts are used.

Nope it wont fit inside or over the collar they are the exact same diameter, its almost like it was cut with a tubing cutter
