MF35 diesel aftermarket fuel filters

Anyone know the replacement filter numbers for MF35 3 cyl. There are no MF dealers close by soi will have to find them at NAPA, Advance auto or one of the automotive chain stores. Mine has two, one located near the fuel cutoff and one close to the injector pump. The one near the pump looks like it maybe a screw on and the one near the cutoff valve maybe internal.

Tractors before SN 240398 use primary MF #1850 450 M1 canister type and secondary MF #1851 890 M1. Late tractors use two of the 1851 890 M1, same as CAV 7111 296, and NAPA 3166. None are screw on type. Just make sure you don't block the 3166 filter with an O ring in the top outer groove.

When you say don't block the filter with a O ring, please explain. I don't have them of yet so Im not sure what you mean, but I will be changing them this week.

Look closely at the NAPA filter top, just inside the top lip there's an open groove around the lip. That's the fuel inlet passage and MUST remain open. The filter package has extra large O rings for some engines that have a glass bowl on the bottom. Been lots of service calls made to remove one of the extra O rings from that groove because guys think it needs one there.

Thanks alot! When you've never done this before, I can see how easy it would be to install the O ring improperly. Glad I
procrastinated long enough, now I should be able to do it correctly.
