1964 Massey model 65
AD204 Perkins diesel direct injection
SN UNDM 704769
Approx 2780 hrs or so, meter was broken when purchased
The tractor currently has the original basket filter.
I see there are kits for spin on filters and these appeal to me for ease of change.
But which have the best filters? Basket or screw on.
As in the smallest micron ratings for removal of "stuff"?
Are there upsides and downsides to this change?
What's the best oil for my old tractor?
Rotella 15-40 is pretty cheap at Megalomart and so is Delvac
At cold starting oil pressure goes up to slightly over 60 psi and after its run for while and hot the pressure drops to about 40 and holds there. The drop is expected, it's an old tractor.
The oil in it is unknown as I haven't changed it yet and it still looks good. I just don't like unknowns. They bug me, always in the back of my mind.
I appreciate the experts once again for helping me keep this old thing in good shape.
