I agree....it looks like a late 44. Does not have cast front wheels, gas tank filler in the rear of the tank and no curved gear shift. Looks like a cobbled up throttle control as well. Still, a decent enough tractor , looks like a fairly easy restoration.

Late 44 by the cast rear wheels, friction throttle, late drawbar and live PTO. It does have an IH air breather cap. Be sure to replace that.
 
Early 44 also had the friction style trottle?

What is the deal with the hydraulic valve under the fuel tank and the control lever on the cylinder support?
 
This one has the live PTO.
When did they put the low output shaft on the PTO? Only on 444? That must be quite the plus to use the tractor on a bush hog or anything else that does not have a PTO 4 feets off the ground.
 
The valve and throttle you have were never like that when new. 333 and 444 was when the PTO was moved down where it's really needed. First 44 also had rachet type throttles
