steering problem

Hi, do you have mechanical or hydrostatic power steering? If you have mechanical you will have a drag link between the steering box and the front end. If not, you will only have hydraulic pipes. Ensure that the king pins are free to turn. The mechanical system works by having a set amount of free movement to activate the assistance ahead of you turning the wheel. Once that movement has been replaced by wear the efficiency will suffer. Have an assistant rock the steering wheel back and forth slowly. Any movement that does not produce steering effect other than to operate the ram spool is wear and should be rectified. Look particularly at the point where the cylinder rod is pinned to the axle casting. Significant back and forth and up and down movement will cause problems.

I think it is in the steering motor or whatever it is called ,at the bottom of steering shaft but no one around here will mess with it cause they are scared

I would agree with PT. Now we know which type of steering system you have. Have you checked/renewed the filter in the steering pump? The Orbitrol is a generally simple item but as PT says you have to know what you are looking for and is generally better left to someone who is more familiar with them. The cost of a seal kit is not great as long as there is no component damage, scoring etc.
