an overdue update on the MF35 3 cyl with the new flat battery... I put a multimeter on the + battery terminal and lead and there was a high discharge and the discharge stopped when I disconnected the auxillary feed from the solenoid the leakage stopped.. at the moment the owner is happy to disconnect the battery when not used

Why not put a battery disconnect switch on it? I use them on all my tractors that don't get a lot of use.

i disconnect battery too. cheap and easy.

Hi, sorry for the delay in getting back to you. Having a cable potentially 'shorting' is not good. Have you checked that the cables are correctly positioned on the regulator box?
D - dynamo, E earth, A ammeter, F field coils in dyn. Electrical components should be disconnected one at a time to isolate the faulty one.
