Hi Everyone-
First time post and First time MF owner. I have a MF 1260 Std Synchro.
Tractor would hesitate to move. It would move slow if at all, in all gears forwrd and reverse. It will eventually move slow then go. It is like the feeling of car with a auto tranny with low or no fluid in it. RPM'S fianlly catch up and creeps then moves faster. It will fianlly move but slow to do so. Then it will work fine sometimes and then will start again?
I checked the Hyd fluid and it was a little low so added some. It workd fine for a few min and then started again.
Any thoughts suggestions on the tranny problem would be appreciated.
Thank you '

Eric B

Hi, my info on the 1260 is that it has a mechanical transmission. There seems to be a little confusion over whether it is a hydrostatic or mechanical. The word 'clutch' has been used often enough to suggest it is mechanical. It is quite a few years since I have done clutches on the earlier 1250 and later 1260. Both models are based on Iseki tractors. The problem you are having seems reminiscent of the clutch slipping. From memory I seem to recall that there are 3 clips fitted to the clutch cover to keep it compressed in a similar way to the 3 slave bolts on larger tractors. If this is the case the clips were not removed prior to reassembly. It may have driven ok when the plate was new but perhaps now it has bedded in a little and there is insufficient pressure on the plate to maintain drive. Sadly there is no way to check this other than to split it again to investigate the problem. Looks like you might have to make a dealer telephone call.

I'd say something is wrong with the reassembly, or the flywheel was warped and it won't let the new clutch grab properly.

Yes it is a std. / std synchro. The dealer installed a new clutch prior to purchase. He did the work for I seen the tractor split. Now what all he did to clutch and said he did could be 2 different things. I cant imagine they would put all the ablor into it by splitting it and not put a new clutch etc in it...

This is a dry clutch tractor, not a hydro?

Your clutch is shot.

Great Idea. The dealer i bought from said they performed all the oil changes etc and the filter looked new. But I will check it I also seen reading the manual that there is suction filter located in lower housing. I will check that to.

From my personal observations, I wouldn't believe anything a dealer told me. They will lie their ars off to sell you something that may or may not be junk. Favorite trick is to throw a cheap paint job on after a pressure wash job. Strange how a new coat of paint will sell a tractor quicker than anything else. IMO
