MF 135 smokes like a train

I recently bought a MF 135 perkins ag3.152 engine (gas). It smoked badly. When I took the head off, one exhaust valve was burned through and all intakes were paper thin at the edges. I had local machine shop rework the valves & seats. It ran a lot smoother but still smoked like a train. I took the head off again today and found gasoline pooled up int the piston domes. The cylinder walls seem smooth but I can feel a definite ridge where the piston stops at the top of the stroke. I am assuming that it probably needs sleeves & rings but the gasoline pooling has me stumped. Can anyone offer any answers?

Is the smoke blue white or black? You may need to get the
mixture right on it, then see how it smokes.

The smoke is blue. The carburetor was rebuilt recently and I think it is adjusted right, but I will check. This carburetor has an electrically operated fuel shut off on the bottom of the carb. It is disconnected right now, could that be part of the problem?

A ridge means ring wear and blue smoke is oil. I would agree
a rebuild is in order, just be prepared for the price of parts
today.

do I have to separate engine from transmission to take oil pan off? I would rather not if I don't have to.
