Are the 318s in both machines the same? Would the 1080 fit directly into a 298 with no trouble?

I have a low hour 1080 with mess of a hydraulic system, and it is ugly. I see a decent looking 298 with a stuck engine in a local auction listing... Got to thinking.

The engines should swap without too much bother, maybe a bracket or two needs changing here and there but you have them to hand. The engines are slightly different inside with modifications done to the 298 engine to reduce the risk of head gasket failure. If it is financially viable then go for it! Sam
