1130 steering problem

Hello I have a 1130 with a steering issue. It has always worked good up until a couple weeks ago now there is resistance when turning.Everything else related to the hydraulics works good just the steering worm or cold doesn't matter. I replaced the filter and cleaned the screen under the tractor. Does anyone have any idea where I should go from here

thanks in advance

I posted earlier about a similar problem. Turned out to be spindle bushings were dry. Even when I pumped grease in and it came out the top,the bottom bushings were stiff. Unhook your tie rods and see if you can freely turn wheels left and right. The previous owner was a retired farmer that hadn't used the tractor for several years.Normally those kingpins should slide right out when you remove the steering arm. We had then pressed out. Good luck, Joe

thanks for the reply. Its acting more like its not getting enough oil. It will steer normal for a inch then hold back then turn a little again. like its not getting enough oil. I don't think its the charge pump only because I believe if it were the that pump it would be better when the oil was cold with more viscosity. But being it does it either way I'm assuming that is not the pump and more of a valve or something holding up

thanks

Well that's how our 1130 acted. Checked pressure at aux outlet,2000lbs so that's good. We had replaced the teflon seals on PS pistons because they were leaking. If I read the repair manual correctly the steering and brakes are on the same circuit fron the priority valve so that wasn't the problem since we had good brakes. The multipower and 3pt worked fine also. While assembling the steering linkage we realized we couldn't move the front wheel from side to side by hand. HTH Joe

Hello again
When you talk about the Teflon seals in the pistons I assume you are talking about the pistons in the front on each side of the housing in the front of the tractor correct? Do you think them could be what causing my lag in being able to turn the steering when there is weight on it? How could you tell they were leaking? Thanks for your reply

I had the same issue on my 1130, would turn good for an inch, then was a turd to turn, ended up being the spindle on one side was not actually taking any grease, I spent alot of time working it on a jack, disconnected the tie-rod, Spraying alot of PB Blaster along the top end, and moving it back and forth, took several days, finally once I got it moving I re-installed the grease zerk, pumped it to her. It's been fine since. I also thought initially it was the Hydraulics..

I will pull the tie rods this monday and make sure they turn with ease. It sure doesn't seem like that but definitely worth the try. I will let you guys know what I find. thanks to both you guys for the replies. I really appreciate it. 1130 in wi

You guys both hit the nail right on the head,I pulled the tie rods end off and I couldn't turn either tire, I would have never guessed or believed that the spinals were holding back like that. Thanks again guys I really appreciate it. 1130 in WI
