Neighbor has a 204 and complained of a loud knocking. Turns out the crank is broken. Any trick to taking the motor off with the converter drive? Do I need to unhook the torque converter like you would a car? Also, how hard is to find a good used crank?

You may be able to get what you need from Mac Tractor Parts (1-800-882-4742). They specialize in used parts for Ferguson and MF tractors. They have an excellent reputation.

I assume you are sure it's the crank. Reason I say that is I had a major knock in my 202 and it turned out that the internal hydraulic pump had split and there were loose pieces causing a heck of a racket. Mind you it only happened with the clutch engaged.

Oh yeah, I took the pan off and the #1 rod throw is broke clean through between the rod and front bearing.
