How to cover tach housing on ad3.152?

Got a 205 industrial. It has no tach or cable, but I'd like to cover the tach cable hole on housing on the end of the cam so dirt won't enter. Have looked around at local hardware stores with no help. It looks like a 5/8 fine thread male that needs a female cap or something...anyone have any ideas on how I can cover this?

Hello JF,
Firstly I would change the seal and gasket. I think the thread is close to 5/8unf but perhaps a little larger. If the tractor was mine I would find a plastic cap of the correct size that would fit without stretching it and 'glue' it in place using silicone jointing cement so that it could be removed.
A typical source for such a plug would be a hydraulics shops or somewhere that uses hydraulic pipes, components etc.

You just need a cap like they put on the fittings of new hyd. hoses to keep dirt out of the tach. connection. Shouldn't cost more than a quarter. Any place that does hoses should have them. I've seem them under the name Plasti-caps. Dave
