Hyd. Pump Strainer

I'd like to replace my hydraulic lift pump filter and was hoping to find a paper element type instead of a metal screen type. Aren't there any available that are paper type?

This filter goes in a housing mounted to the side of my loader frame. I have a MF 205 industrial with a 200 series loader. The frame holds hydraulic fluid and is run by a pump mounted to the front of the tractor run by a shaft bolted to the crank pully.

Anyone know? Or am I just supposed to change out the old oil with new every so often? If so, how often? Thanks, I'm hoping there is a better solution than changing out all that fluid every time cuz that can get expensive.

It's probably similar to our MF40 loader ( forget the model #) and I
just dropped the canister and changed out the cartridge filter
inside (which I got from the MF dealer). I only lost the oil in the
canister. I don't remember all the oil in the tank running out, but
maybe the level was low. I don't believe the filter is at the bottom
of the tank anyway. It was a bugger getting it back together
though, as their is one stiff coil spring above the cartridge that the
bolt runs through and needs compressing for the bolt to engage
the threads, not to mention the canister is some heavy.

Sounds just like mine, cartridge on the right side of the tractor on the loader frame with a bolt in the bottom and I think a spring insied.

What kind of filter was it, was it paper or a metal screen type?
