MF 2805 Prototype

Aussie MF

New User
Hello,

A few years ago a member on this forum "Danperkins" posted some details on a MF 2805 he owned and was about to restore. It looked like a prototype machine.

Danperkins did you complete the restoration and do you have any new pictures? Did you find out more on the tractor and was it a prototype for a new model?

Cheers,

Aussie MF

Aussie MF, I haven't done any restoration to the tractor yet. I knew the tractor was very unusual when I first saw it, and it was one of the reasons I bought it. One of the first things I did was order a service manual and of course I could tell my 2805 was very different from the ones in the manual. Then I picked up some new air filters for it and they wouldn't fit. I contacted the dealer I bought the tractor from and gave them the serial numbers and they didn't recognize them. They recommended I contact Agco directly. The person at Agco told me to email him some pictures of the tractor and serial numbers. He responded saying it was a prototype tractor. He helped me cross the Donaldson numbers on the existing filters to get new ones. Here are a few of the unique features it has. It has a special adjustable front axle and steering system with slave cylinder mounted parallel to, and behind the axle. The batteries are mounted up in front of the radiator vs by the steps to the cab. It has unique sheet metal and styling. Digital dash with electronic 3point hitch controls. Totally different shift console in the cab, different shift mechanism on the transmission itself with special castings, electronic differential lock, The PTO is operated electronically too and it has a very large output shaft which is larger in diameter than your standard 1000 rpm shaft. The engine and transmission on the tractor is painted dark brown, vs the std flint gray metallic. It has the Perkins 640 turbo with Bosch pump and I think the engine is probably standard 2805. It still has the MF prototype serial numbers and tags on it. I use the tractor, it runs very well. I do admit though I don't work it very hard knowing that it probably will have some collector value someday. Thanks for asking about it.

I posted a couple of pictures of it in the photo gallery. Just type in MF 2805 and it is in there. I have a 2745 too. Thanks.

dan if you are ever going to have it at a show anywhere please post would be nice to see someday
