mf20 nose for hood.

does anyone know where there is a used nose piece for my mf20. i live in michigan. does this tractor have a live pto, this tractor is a diesel with a 6 speed trans 1969 model.

You should go to a MF dealer and order a genuine MF manual. There might be some on e-bay as well. It most likely has a live pto if it doesn't have a manual shuttle transmission. The book I have only shows an 8 speed trans. but I would bet that early models had a 6 speed. To check if it's a live pto/live hydraulics is pretty easy. Put the 3 point down and push the clutch all the way down. It shouldn't lift. Let the clutch up halfway and see if it lifts. If it does, you have live hydraulics. Do the same test with the pto engaged. Make sure it's engaged in engine speed pto and not ground speed. Have the tractor in gear also. The pto should be stopped with the clutch all the way down. The pto should turn with the clutch half way down but the tractor should stay stopped. If the tractor moves at the same time the pto starts to turn it's not a live pto. I would be about 99% sure it has a live pto, if it has a pto in the first place. Dave
