Hi, I have been reading here for a long time and thought that I would finally write in. I grew up on a farm with Massey Ferguson tractors. I have spent many hours on our old 1100 and 1130. Not to mention our 510 combine. I wanted to share a story with you. In 1981 I was a senior in high school and the wrestling coach at the school bought a brand new 255 tractor. I don't know why but that tractor caught my eye the first time I saw it. It was beautiful. I would see the tractor several times a week over the years because he lived between our place and town. Sadly, the owner died suddenly in 1988 and the tractor did a lot of sitting in a pasture over the next several years. It was sitting under a shed with four poles and a roof no walls. The cows had pulled off about everything they could. When I stopped to look at the tractor a cow came over and took a bite out of what was left of the seat. I bought the tractor from the original owners son not really knowing what I was getting. I know that this story is getting really long, sorry. I checked the fluids everything looked clean and good. There was about a half inch of diesel in the tank so I thought what the heck and took the battery out of my pickup and gave it a go. This tractor had not ran in at least eight years maybe more. To my delight it turned over and to my surprise it started! The oil pressure came up on the gauge and the other gauges came to life as well. I looked back and the lift arms had raised. It started and ran like it just got parked the day before. I was covered in black soot and junk that came out of the muffler but very excited. I only ran it long enough to load it on the trailer before I changed the oil and other things. It has not been without problems but all have been minor. (water pump) At only 2700 hours I expect this tractor to be part of my family for a long time. If you don't mind I will tell you more later and post some before and after pics if I can figure out how. Again I enjoy reading all that you guys write.
