I have a Masey 1100 forgive me because i do not know a whole lot about this tractor.

What i do know is its a diesel, it is turbo'd. Which from what i've gathered is very rare. Lucky me.

I have a serious problem and hopefully someone can help.

First off my dad bought this tractor and he is convienently out of town.

It is my stack tractor. I pull a 1010 stackliner with it.

Recently it has started to act up. It would run but the rpm's would jump about 200 or so about every minute or so. I was using it today and it just sputtered and died. I cannot get it to start. It has fuel. Oil is good. Lifter pump works.

I have fuel at the settling bowl, lift pump, both filters, and going into the injection pump.

I have no idea how to test the injection pump but if a bleed it i do get diesel and some air out of it. It turns over just fine and will try to start with ether. But dies as soon as it runs out of ether. The filters are brand new. I tried bleeding and priming the whole fuel system. No help. \

This just happened several hours ago and i'm out of ideas. I have the service manual for it but the picture and diagram in no way resembles the fuel system on that tractor (because of the turbo maybe i dont know)

Any help will be greatly appriciated. I have about 2000 bales to stack and no tractor to stack them with. Any advice or ideas or hairbrained schemes are welcome. Like i said. I'm desperate.

Also. If it makes a difference it has belly tanks that near as i could tell is fed out of the crossover tube under the tractor. This looks like something someone added at some point because there is a fuel line that runs into the top of the tank but it is plugged.

I would stop with the ether, will not help if there is no fuel getting to injectors. Try loosening an injector line at the injector and have someone crank it over while you watch. Is there fuel being pumped trhough? And if there is, it may even start on you and run on five cylinders. If it does, there was air in the pump that could not get out until now. Tighten the line up and run it to see if problem is resolved. It is possible that on a forty or so year old unit that the fuel pick up tube in the tank has broken or the screen on the bottom of that pick up is covered with slime, rust or some other debris.

Remove he air bleeder screw on the side of the injuction pump with a 5/16 wrench. Using the hand pump, on the other side of the tractor, you should be able to shoot a solid stream of fuel(no air) 4 or 5 feet out to the ground. If this happens. the injection pump is suspect($$$) If you can't accomplish this, better have a look inside the hand lift pump

Hello,
I would agree with Brian only I would slacken at least two of the injector pipes at the injectors. If you can turn the engine over and see the pipes (with help) look for air bubbles. If you have fuel and no air remove one of the nuts and pull the pipe aside slightly. Ideally the fuel should come out in 'spits'. If it only comes out in a trickle that is not always bad but may indicate problems in the main pump. If the tractor starts get it to a point where it can be worked on if necessary. One other possibility is that the fuel tank is not breathing. Remove the fuel filler cap and listen for any air being sucked in. This happens quite often on other models.
Let us know how you get on.

One time when my dad ran our 1100 out of fuel, he had trouble getting the fuel to flow from the fill tank on the clutch side to the other tank. The tank looked like it had enough fuel, but it wasn't flowing across. He got it to go by disconnecting the fuel line at the lift pump, and putting air into the fill tank with a portable air tank until it flowed out the line at the pump.

check the sealing ring on fuel line behind jam nut at lift pump fuel tank side, check suction line to tank also ,if either show any sign of fuel leaking it will suck air into fuel, had this cause one to give the same problem you started off with change sealing ring after about two days of aggrovation cured the problem ,check banjo bolt that holds return line to fuel filter it has a bleed off hole that could be plugged. check fuel filler cap vent ,check to make sure fuel is cross flowing between tanks ,check fuel tank sump tube make sure it doesn't have something inside restricting it

Well none of those worked. Any other suggestions? I have fuel everywhere. Everything is venting or bleeding nothing seems to be pluged. The fuel is cross flowing between the two tanks. The lift pump is working. It appears the injection pump is working. The only thing i didnt check were the injectors themselves but all six would have to go out or get plugged at the same time? Seems unlikely.
