MF 135 oil leak

Just purchased a MF135. So far the only leakage appears to be engine oil dripping out of a weep hole in the bottom. It only leaks for a short time after running. Whether it sits for 1 day or 4 days the amount is about the same. This leads me to believe it's not the oil pan as it would be continuous. I'm thinking the rear crank seal. Leaks while running, drains out after tractor shut off, then stops. Probably a teaspoon or so. What do you think? If it is the crank seal how hard to replace?

Oil pan gaskets do just as you describe. Oil leaks slowly while running, but most doesn"t drip out until tractor is shut off. Usually just a few drops when shut off, then dripping stops. Probably a few drops fall out while using tractor, but they aren"t noticable. Once shut off, static level of oil in pan is well BELOW gasket level...leaking stops.

Pan gasket requires ONLY dropping pan to change. Rear main requires splitting tractor, removing flywheel to get at. I"ve repaired over a dozen leaky Perkins/MF"s, ALL pan gaskets.

Still alot of work getting the pan off if its a 3cyl perkins removing the front end and all. Unfortunatly you dont have much of a choice if the pan is leaking, good luck.

You don't have to "remove" the front axle, just unbolt it from the pan (after wedging axle) I've done quite a few and never pulled the axle on the first one.
