620 breather

My 620 has been difficult to start. Today I noticed oil running out the sides of the oil pan on breather. I took it off and it appeared as if oil was being sucked up into filter. Oil was at prescribed level. I dumped some out and it started right up. Any suggestions as to what would cause rd his? Thanks

I'm GUESSING you are talking about the oil cup on the oil bath air cleaner?

A backfire will make 'em puke oil.

Or, even coming up on compression and bouncing back, if the starter doesn't have quite enough oomph to make it over TDC.
