Dual Action Cylinder - John Deere 620

Hello,

I have a John Deere 620 with dual remotes and am not sure how to properly hook up a dual action cylinder. I have a haybine that really does not need down pressure, but has both lines anyway and wanted to see how to properly hook up. I've looked online and see that there are plugs that appear to be for the return line. Is this what I need? I have seen this post for a john deere 60, but am not sure that the 20 series is the same.

Your 620 should have Pioneer female quick couplers already. There are sometimes steel dust plugs inserted into the couplers to keep them clean. They have a little chain or rubber strap to keep from losing them. Grab the coupler body and pull it towards you. Remove the plug. Now I'll also assume your haybine has Pioneer male tips. Insert those into your coupler and let the coupler go back forward, locking in the tip. Then Bob's your uncle. Raise and lower the implememt. I'd suggest the first time to do it with the tractor off so you can move the lever back and forth to dump the residual pressure.
If you're not sure what style of tips are on the haybine, post a pic of the tips.

You say that you don't need down
pressure. There is a long cap nut on the
upper right side and below the seat. That
cap nut can be removed and you will find
what looks like a threaded rod with a
screwdriver slot under the nut. If that
threaded rod is screwed in snug you will
have pressure to both outlets. If it is
backed out a few turns you will have
pressure to the bottom outlet only.
Replace the cap nut and snug it tight.

And I should have mentioned - plug your down pressure line into the top outlet, lift line into the bottom outlet and your cylinder will float if you have the afore mentioned threaded rod loosened.

Thank you for the reply! I'm used to a more modern tractor with two ports for each remote - two levers and only one port for each is new for me.

This is super helpful - Thank you for the response. I've only done work with hydraulics on next generation deere and above, so this is new for me. I'll give it a try!
