John Deere Pony Motor Plug Wires

Okay, so my dilemma continues after a long hard winter. See my post from last fall:

https://www.yesterdaystractors.com/cgi-bin/viewit.cgi?bd=jd&th=678820

I put new coils and points in, but in re-reading my post from last fall, I see where the plug wire ends and coils must match. In checking I have these plug wires:

And here are the coils I received last fall:

I ordered the new plug wires from Steiner's and received them today. The coils I ordered last fall from All State Ag Parts. It looks like both the new wires and coils have barbed posts. Where can I find the correct wires to use on the barbed coils from All State Ag?

I also received a new switch from Steiners today, so as soon as I can find the correct plug wires, I will see if I can get some spark. I've already spent the money on the coils, points and wires, but would I be better off ordering the kit where the wires and coils come together, so they should have the correct ends? Or do all the aftermarket wires have these ends. Will I end up buying the U.S. made coils, and if so, where do I find those?

Thanks for any help.

You have plug wires designed for U.S. made coils that have a wire clip inside to clip in the bayonet end. The coils are foreign made with a
barbed post that simply inserts into the end of plug wire. I have found the foreign made coils have a problem with the lead wires being brittle
and break right at face of the coil and cannot be easily repaired. If you clip the bayonet end off of your plug wires to make them work with
foreign coils and they will be ok until the brittle lead wires break. Then youre back to buying new plug wires and the correct American made
coils. You can find American made coils on EBay.theyre the more expensive ones. I have a drawer full of foreign coils with lead wires that
broke simply due to constant vibration.

Any idea if the Steiner coils are correct? It says they use accept the original wire pigtail???

Does anyone know if the coil sold by Steiner would work with my plug wires? It states that it accepts the original pigtail end spark plug wires. I'm not sure what that means???

I did reach out to Steiner but have not received a reply.

Thanks,

Not sure in what manner you reached out, but when a parts guy is swamped, in person sales take priority, then phone calls and emails get answered when time allows.

I asked the questions via e-mail. There's also some Wico coils available on ebay for about 20 bucks more per coil. Maybe those are the ones I should buy. Anyone know if the Wico coils are manufactured in the U.S.?
