Model M temp gauge

My M is still 6 volt and a previous owner has installed an electric temp gauge. Its not hooked up. I dont remember all of ohms law but are 6 volt gauges even available? We wont comment on how long its been since Ive been in school.

No idea on whether a 6v gauge is available or even if the voltage matters since your going down instead of up. For it to work I think you would have to find a sending unit and then add a variable
rheostat to get the resistance needed.

I'm sure it could be done but it's more trouble than it's worth in my opinion. It would be much simpler to get a new one from Evergreen.
Once you get a working gauge you'll be wondering why it's running hot. Lol 200 to 225 is normal.

Thats what Ive been seeing is mechanical. Its going back that way. Is the higher temp because of dual fuel?

Evergreen Restoration. Jerry Trica rebuilds old gauges and sells new ones.

They read hot because of where the sending part screws in. Later ones are in the back of the head and are an improvement at least.

Yup, on my 1948 M the temp gauge maxes out whenever Im doing anything with it unless its freezing outside. Been doing that for the 40 years weve had it with no ill effects.
