4430 3 point all or nothing

I just purchased a 4430 and the 3 point arms either go all the way up or if you just move the lever 1/2" it goes all the way down. No in between. When coming up it seems like it is really bogging the motor down even without a attachment. That is with the L/D in max. In Min. it wont lift up.

First thing I suggest to do is check to be sure nut(item 44) is tight in rockshaft control valve housing. Those nuts have a history of loosening with use. Next I suggest to follow the several steps outlined in JD 4430 tech manual concerning adjusting both external & internal rockshaft(3 pt)control linkages. A lot of people think adjusting nut accessed by removing plug in rear of trans case is the "magic solution" but I think following instructions in TM is correct solution.

the bottom of the transmission is bent
a little bit

I've never seen a bent load shaft requiring replacement & seriously doubt that bent L/D shaft is this tractors 3 pt control problem. Load control shaft flexes with load when plowing. The flexing of the shaft is what moves control linkage so plow raises enough to lessen load on 3 pt hitch.

Your rockshaft is working normally for a "max" position.
In max, the depth is given "only" by the load.

You need to make it raise, simply speaking, do all the adjustments per the manual.
It is very likely that you need to unscrew few turns the 9/16 nut behind the square plug under the RH SCV. This will adjust the arm position.

Nut in hole on mechanism in rear of trans case is 3/8'' which requires 9/16'' socket. 9/16'' socket needs to be welded or securely taped to an extension so as not to accidently loose socket in trans/diff case
