2016 825i Starting sequence issues

Hello.
I have a 2016 825i, 400 hours, had it about a year, lives in the middle of nowhere, so far no major rodent invasions. The thing usually starts and runs fine. Recently, it was fine during a chore run and then abruptly began to start in the following way, never again to start normally:

Starts with little cranking
Idles low, about 900rpm
Sounds like it's missing, starved for air or air/fuel mix issue, maybe on 2 of 3 cylinders.
Will seriously bog down or stall with any throttle (pushing on the gas.)
After about a minute or 90 seconds of this struggling, begins to idle normally (around 1100rpm) and sounds
like it's running properly, and then will allow acceleration and normal driving.
BUT if you shut it off, even when very warm, the whole nonsense to start it is repeated.

Sometimes I've been able to 'skip' this 'waiting' by (on the throttle body itself) opening up the throttle
very quickly over and over, to trick it into higher rpm until it sort of clears, but this wastes gas and probably
spews a bunch of unburned fuel all over. This doesn't always work either. One time yesterday, it wouldn't restart at all when very warm, until I waited for a bit; I was likely being impatient.

The system is pretty immaculate; the throttle body looks brand new inside. I've yet to pull the plugs, or get into tearing the fuel system apart. Pulling the air cleaner does nothing to help, nor does spraying CRC stuff into the throttle body.

The situation smells to me of dead sensor/haywire computer control. Don't get me started on that...

Thanks for your comments in advance,

I'd be betting its a bad and failing fuel pump. Fuel pump is in tank and pretty easy to replace and some good YouTube videos on the replacement. About $150-$200 from deere, others on line for less than $100. Have had 2 different 825i gators and ended up replacing both fuel pumps. Yes, when you turn the key on, you will hear your current pump run for about 5 seconds and then turn off, but I don't think theres a pressure switch that tells system the fuel system has reached proper pressure and is ready. I've had them start and run fine and then 20 minutes later, not run at all. Also, make sure wire connector to fuel pump is bright and tight. I've had the connector loosen up and cause no run/no start situation.

Hmn, thanks for the ideas. It did occur to me to insert a gauge to monitor the fuel pressure. The thing is that the machine has never died in action, and repeats the 90second struggle even when hot. I guess the 'on it's way out' notion could be at play, but the consistency and repeatability of the 90 second super choke or whatever is going on... ...well, it's only been 3 weeks or so since this started, and indeed there was a new level with the no start at all warm recently. I guess some tlc investigation is in order. I'll report back...

If there is no start up sequence fuel mixture sensing and modification to fail, then I don't quite get the design for choking during cold start up. But I take your points, I'll dig around. A pump failure at 2000 miles, well, relative to vehicles I have with over 200,000 miles with their original pumps, the mind reels..!

thanks - gibbs
