M carb question

I believe that my main power adjusting needle is leaking.
Can I adjust the packing nut or does the whole needle need
to be replaced. The tractor runs great!

Try tightening up the packing nut first see if it moves.

Just tighten the packing nut. I've never had to replace one of these. Setting them can be a bit of a challenge. I usually have my wife drive it in 1st gear, put on the brakes to load it, and adjust while I am walking along side the tractor. Pretty easy to do this way.
FWIW - had many M,40,420 and 430 models. Never had to replace the load jet assy.

Yep, just tighten the nut a bit. If it still leaks replace the packing cone. About $6 from Deere.

Had the chance to check the valve today and I could turn it with my fingers. Gave it less than a quarter turn with a wrench and no more drips. Thanks to everyone that responded.
