1968 JD 4020 Gaining oil!

Group,

My 4020 is gaining oil. I have already replaced the Lift pump so I am 99% sure it is the injector pump. My question is when I have that out and get it done should I also replace the injectors? Also is it best to take off the hood when you are doing that?

Assuming there are no signs of coolant contamination in the engine oil.

Hood removal necessary to remove valve cover breather tube/line which will make that pump replacement much easier ... plus hood removal is pretty simple ... nice to have a second person but not necessary.

Its nice to check everything over for leaks and clean up the engine compartment plus you have lots more light and access for inspection with the hood off.

If you don't suspect anything wrong with the injectors no need for replacement.

No coolant in the oil. I do notice that the oil is thinner I can't positively tell if I smell diesel but no type of moisture is present in the oil. OK so I will take the hood off. I thought that
would make it easier.

Also another note. Oil is rising over the winter and the tractor sits most of the winter. Probably only ran about an hour total.
