Transmission/hydraulic oil temp

How about some more information?? What are you doing with the tractor that makes you question oil temp?

Running an 8 row air planter from tractor hydraulics. It was running about 145 degrees yesterday. We had a high temperature of 84 I believe during the day. 145 is not
too hot but I am sure it will run hotter with a hotter day. This is also plumbed correctly, return does not dump directly to transmission housing. It is set up with a
power beyond and the return goes through the oil cooler.

Tech manuals for these older tractors tell me to heat hydraulic oil to 150F for certain tests. I'm guessing that's their "predicted" operating temp.

I use a hydraulic 50 inch rotary brush sweeper on a 2755. It has tremendous power and will yank out heavy brush from under fruit trees. At 45 degrees ambient, the oil stays at about 100 degrees. At 75 ambient, the oil rises to about 160 degrees. So this tells me that depending on the hydraulic power required and the flow and the ambient temperature, then the oil temperature will vary greatly. My guess is that oil should not exceed 175-200 degrees max.

I think it will be OK. It got up to 92 today and the oil temp was still about 145. I think I will get started on soybeans tomorrow and soybeans may take a little more flow since there are so many more holes in the drum but soybeans also don't require as much air pressure so it might not be a lot more. I will keep a close eye on the temperature but I am sure many people have run air planters with 40 series hydraulics.
