Working on friends 730 gas. Can someone please explain the fuel return system and how the perculation valve works and if it can be plugged ? Gas tank is in bad shape and trying to rig a temporary tank just to get it running. Thanks for any info

''fuel return system''???

''perculation valve''???

Are you talking about the oil pressure-operated fuel shutoff?

...or maybe a coffee pot?

I know about the oil pressure fuel shut off. This 730 gas has 2 fuel lines coming from the gas tank. One goes to the fuel sediment bowl assy.
from the shut off valve in the bottom rear of the tank. There is another line/hose that goes from the bottom front of the tank almost
straight down to the top of the carb that I have never seen before. The only info I can find was somewhere on here that said it was a return
setup that was supposed to aid in vapor locking especially when a picker was put on a tractor. I am just trying to understand how the system
works. The guy also has a 620 gas that i have worked on but it does not have this setup. Thanks in advance.

I have the gas tank out to the shop to be repaired so i can not get a pic at this time. The gas tank has 2 outlets on the bottom. The rear one goes to the oil pressure controlled shut off/sediment bowl and the front one has a short hose that hooks right up to a fitting on the top/right side of the carb. Apparently this is somewhat a rare deal or something. Some one said it was some sort of vent to prevent vapor lock.

My 730 gas also has this set up. I have never figured out how it works, I just take it for granted. I also have the flanges on the rear axle for a drop axle.

are you referring to #26 at

described as "carburetor inlet vent"?

Yes! I also had time to look it up today and found that
also. I also found that if you look at the 730 gas carb
parts breakdown that it shows the vent line from the
carb to the fitting on the tank. There is not a lot of info
on this system for some reason.
