How to change generator belt

Hello, I have a 420w John Deere tractor. It needs a generator belt. Is it possible to change that belt without taking off the fan belt.? thank you in advance. Where can I find instructions on how to change the generator belt.

IMHO - replace both at the same time. avoid having to do the 'other' one later.

It isnt that easy. There are two belts. One from the crank to the water pump pulley and then the generator belt is behind that one. Taking the hood, grill and radiator off is the best/easiest way to do it. Gives you the most room and access to the water pump. That belt is adjusted by turning the adjusting ring on the front of the water pump. This is also the front half of the pulley. Loosen the setscrew on the pump pulley and then unscrew the two halves. This loosens the belt enough to get it off the bottom pulley. Check the water pump out closely too as it'll never be easier to replace than now. Make sure the bearing and seal are in good condition, not leaking and smooth spinning.

1. Remove grill, gas tank, radiator and hood.

2. Block up front end.

3. Split tractor and remove engine. This gives easy access to parts needing replacement.

4. Replace belt and it is recommended to replace the water pump belt and the water pump is
suggested while you have some spare bolts.

5. It is suggested you replace the clutch at this time because the engine is where you can get at it.

6. Reassemble in the opposite order if you can remember where things are and can still find out what went
in most of the holes....
