730 gas polarity

Was a 730 gas positive ground or negative ground originally?? Thanks in advance

It was fursure a positive ground leaving Waterloo but the batteries were wired wierd to get 24 V for some things and 12 for others. Or so I recall of my dad's. Depending on what it's electrical system it's set up with now, it's hard to tell. I know a guy who got a tractor with an alterator installed requiring negative ground and a 12 V starter, so his was 12 V negative ground He used 2 12v connected in parallel to give him plenty of oomph on cool days. The operator's manual should show things as shipped and you can compare with as now. Good luck. The 730 was sure a tractor you could get work done with.

The OP said he has a Gas tractor. Only 12 volts not 24 volts. Originally positive ground with two 6v batteries in series.

All 2-cylinders, with batteries, and the 3010/3020/4010 and pre sidecounsole 4020s left the factory with Positive ground.

Thank you. I have installed one 12v battery and hooked it up positive ground just to get the tractor running for now. I thought I was right but I just wanted to confirm. Thanks to all.
