Would tires too wide for my JD M rims do this?

M-Man, I asked here first because most times its best to go to the oracle. After a little more searching it looks like 10s are the widest recommended for 8 rims so you are spot on. I suspect that under inflation also contributed.

Seems to me if they were crowned up, they would have worn off in the center, not either side of center.

My tractor. I acquired it a month ago. Im in the process of giving it a haircut and a shave. No total body makeover. It runs good with no smoke, has minor leaks here and there, but the metal is straight.

Only if the air pressure was high. Just like old bias ply car tires, if the pressure was low the outer edges wore out faster. To high and the inside wore.

What's the question then, should you put 12.4 on it again? Or just wondering if the width was the only cause? If you're asking if you should put 12.4 on it again, obviously you can, but I wouldn't if you can get 9.5 or 11.2.

In my opinion the tire were donated to the M & they came off the frt of a 4wd tractor.. But 12.4 are too big for a Little M.

I swapped 10-24s (11.2-24) onto my '48 M. They fit just fine. 12-24s (13.2-24) will probably be really stretched in those wheels.

Thanks for all the help. I think Im going with 8.3s or 9.5s since this is just going to be a play with the grandkids tractor. Thanks again. Charles
