John Deere 620 carburetor

Working on my JD 620 this week and took the carburetor apart. The bowl had a lot of loose rust at the bottom and the idle screws are scored badly. The passages seem ok. However the stainless steel balls in some of the passage are stuck, some back a ways in their passages. It's been a while since I had one of these apart but it seems to me that the balls are supposed to be at the opening of the passages. My question is will the balls being stuck affect the operation of the carburetor in any way and do those passages need to be cleaned? Thanks,

Pete

To work properly, the balls need to come out and the passages cleaned. Getting them out can be tricky. An end mill small enough to not hurt the carb body itself works. Heating them up first
also helps.

yeah that's what I was afraid of. I'm wondering if ought to just pack up the pieces and ship it to a professional. I've done a number of single barrel carbs alright but the duplex carbs are bit more intimidating

My son works on the 2 cyl. carbs for a lot of the pulling guys. He can clean it and rebuild it like new for you. Email is open if you need more info.
