Anybody had the flashers just quit working on one of these? I have checked the fuses, and both bulbs but haven't found the issue yet. The right one (when sitting on the seat) works fine, but the left one is a solid glow. I took the bulb out of the left side, single element, and it looks OK, so I took the one out of the right side and put it in the left side. It just glows. I put the one from the left side in the right side and it flashes. They are both single element bulbs. Thus, no matter which bulb is in the right side, it flashes, but neither works on the left side. This machine is stored inside and all the terminals/sockets are free of rust/corrosion. The directional signals don't work now either. I have a bad feeling a mouse may have got under the instrument panel during the winter but I haven't removed it yet. That's my next move though. Any thoughts?

As for your problem it sounds like you need to get out your test light or voltmeter and start chasing the individual wires. It may be mouse damage, or it might be bad connections in plug together connectors. There could also be ground issues with the light sockets.

Thanks Jim, you're right I mis spoke about someone elses answer to my question. Thanks for correcting me. I haven't found any mouse damage yet after I lifted the dash assembly from the cowl. I have unplugged the wires from the light switch and the directional signal switch, cleaned them and plugged them back in. No change. I have ground on both light units because the bulb lights.....it just doesn't blink on the left side. The flasher is part of the directional signal switch and I am leaning toward that being the problem. I have tested the terminals with an ohm meter (although it is difficult to determine how the insides of the switch works even with that test) and I have the JD repair manual on a CD that I have referenced while looking at this problem. The light switch tested out OK, but nothing happens when I activate the turn signal to either light. They both remain dark.

If the glow is dim I would try a long jumper wire from the left light socket to a good ground, like the negative battery terminal, and see if it flashes. A poor ground can give a glow but not carry enough current to work the flasher. Rust, paint, looseness, poor connection of the socket to the mounting base are some things, in the light mounting areas, can cause this.

Just a follow up on the 4300 flasher light issue. After testing to the best of my ability, I ordered a new blinker light switch because neither of the lights worked when I activated the blinker lever. It arrived today, and I installed it today, and all the lights work good as new. Thanks for your input my friend.
