JD 158 loader hoses

I am getting ready to add a joystick on the 4020 to run the 158 loader, is the hydraulic hose diameter critical? If I could use 3/8" it would save a little money and bulk. I plan on tapping a T by the brakes and returning to the filter cover as outlined here previously. Any other tips?

Do as you wish, but returning to the rockshaft return line with a T makes for a very clean installation. And you never have to deal with the return line when changing filters.

I'm all for clean and leaving the cover alone, but I thought if it was plumbed this way the front pump might get starved?

Return to rockshaft return line or filter cover = essentially the same thing.

Just different ways of achieving the same result, rockshaft return oil is routed to the filter.

(Where I'm at, (wheatland) tractors equipped with a rockshaft are by FAR in the minority.)

You guys are talking about the line in this picture? (stolen from TX Jim)
