Original Dealer Decal Info

New User
Good evening,
Attached are pics of my great-great grandfathers 1938 model BO. Im currently in process of carefully removing grease and dirt to preserve it in "survivor" level restoration. This evening in the pics attached the original dealer decal has been located. I did have a knowledgeable John Deere collector verify it is an original dealer label. My question to the vast knowledge base here is

Does this dealer label look familiar to any of you?

Tractor was built 25 Jan 1938
Shipped 28 Feb 1938 to Arcade Ny

Any ideas/info is greatly appreciated

All 4 links you posted show the same result of a google search. None of them has your BO or dealer
decal.

If you have pictures of your BO and the dealer decal try to post them.

Unfortunately Pete my pic attaching skills somehow aren t adequate enough to post pics..can I email them for someone to post for me?

This will be interesting. The last JD dealer in that area was in Chaffee during the 1970's from what I am told. Then it was
Mecca Brothers over in North Collins or Goodridge in Alexander.

Jim,
I clicked the email icon on the post. I don t have any other avenue to send you anything if the forums don t allow access to your email..Is there a private message function with YT?

Yessir, exactly.

Now my airline pilot self wants to know..Where s the checklist on how to post pics

Thank you!!

Which view are you using "Modern or Classic" view? Modern view is easier for me to post photo's. If a not too large photo is loaded on my computer I just scroll down page to "choose files" click on chosen photo then click on "submit" That's a nice looking BO which reminds me of when I acquired my BO.

To add to Tx Jim's info, do not use the img button when you do that, just the Choose files button.

I opened them by highlighting everything between the "img" tags and selecting go to in my browser.

Thanks Jim,
I really appreciate the guidance y all provide with posting pics.
Yes that s a nice looking BO!

I m staying hopeful that someone will chime in to some information regarding this dealer tag I found.being the 5th generation owner it s a very special tractor.

The one picture you posted that shows a decal is not of a dealer decal, but is actually a factory-applied patent decal - in fact, it appears to be the one shown below. There were many different patent decals as the patent numbers were added and changed over time and in accordance with the model.

Well there you go, Thank you Dan for clarification!! Im happy to have the visual evidence of what the decal is.

Thanks again for all the help and Merry Christmas gang!

Jeremy

I posted this on a different thread a couple days ago for someone who was also having trouble posting pictures. It ties in with Jim.ME's post above. Hope it helps.

"If you're not on modern view, switch to it. Then scroll down below the box where you're typing your message. It will say "upload photos/videos", and below that will be a little box that says "Choose Files". Click that. It should take you to where the pictures are on your computer. Find the one you want and double click on it. It should show up beside the little box and say that it is uploading. Wait till it is finished-sometimes takes a couple minutes. It will tell you when it is done. then go back up and click "preview" and see if it is what you want. If it is, click "submit" and you're done!

There are some limits on how large the photo can be--I'm not sure what those are. You can ask down in "Site comments" if necessary. But just try it first. If it works, then no problem."

Thank you for the directions Rich, I will certainly follow that guidance.

Have a happy New Year!

Jeremy

Interesting.
I'm about 20 miles north of Arcade, NY
I have a 1938 BO in full citrus dress, but never researched the history of it. I'm curious to where your serial number and my serial number are in relations to each other. If you could send a privet email. I also have a 1938 B that my great grandfather bought new. It was sold through Cook's Garage in Perry, NY. From what I have been told, Cooks garage was more than just a Deere dealer. Alot of the towns / villages had their own dealership back then. I will ask around about the Arcade dealership. I have to believe that your BO was sold long before Mecca's were in business. The Mecca family currently lives in West Palm, FL and are tomato growers. They still frequent the area. Don't forget that there was Bar-Chel John Deere Dealers in Springville. I have no idea when they stared up but were eventually acquired by LandPro.

I may be showing my ignorance here, but is there some stipulation to not giving up the tractor serial number to the general public here?
I ll gladly send you an email with the serial number if it s the proper thing to do HayMaker..

I m still trying to find out where in Arcade Ny. It spent its life in Gasport until I inherited it and it came to Houston with me.

Do you have any pics of yours?

Nice looking BO in full dress, really sharp!
It s awfully neat to see one so close in serial numbers from the same area.

On a different note. Are the brake drums on your 38 bolted or riveted to the brake shaft?

They are riveted.

Sorry for the delay.
I stopped and spoke to the owner of Drake Equipment in Arcade, NY as I figured he would be a resource to this question. He said to his knowledge that there was never a John Deere Dealer in Arcade, NY. His father in-law stated Drake Equipment in the late 1930 s / early 1940 s and they were a Massy Harris dealer. They eventually switched to Oliver, then White, and now just an independent repair shop. He researched this and did figure out the John Deere Dealer. He reached out to the local Historical society and asked about this. With a little research they found the original John Deere dealer.
See the Facebook post with pictures.
