Wartime John Deere Question

Hey all, I am unfamiliar with much of the details surrounding a wartime tractor. I currently have a 1944 John Deere A and am going to pick up a 1944 John Deere B later this week. I know they had the steel
radiator rather than the copper one with a different cap, what were any other features of these tractors? Also, I know I saw it somewhere but cannot recall where, but what are the serial number ranges for
those tractors deemed wartime? Thanks very much!

Can't speak to/for the B but the A had a cast iron (instead of fabricated steel) frame forward of the crank case. They also had a steel serial number tag. I have one and the tag is essentially illegible these days.

I have a 1943 B and it has a cast iron frame. It also had steel wheels (now cutoffs). That's about as wartime as you can go. Mine has a regular tag.

Al. I have seen the B's with a cast iron frame. Al need to get with you, have had health problems but think I am getting thru them.

most had cast iron frame, steel radiator core with pressure cap, no electric start, steel wheels , and a four speed transmission.5th and 6th gear were not wanted with steel wheels.

they also had a steering wheel made from different material ( called blue steering wheels) different water temp gauge ( higher boiling point with pressure) the hood also had smaller hole for smaller radiator cap

there may be a couple other parts I am forgetting

I am working on my grandads 1944 A right now skeleton steel no power lift and never had 5th and 6th gear put into use.
