Tune up day

Finally got time to verify timing and valve lash . Why will one pump never ever change in 30 years and timing on another pump will change in 2000 hours ? I talked with the dealer and they run an injection pump shop going to send injectors and pump off and have them gone through . Im sure the injectors are coked to point they are near closed off they were 1500 hours when I replaced them last time can they be cleaned ? This is as close as I can get the timing with undoing injection line clamps to turn the pump farther . At one time I was checking valve lash and pump timing every year but my other tractors never got out of adjustment but this 4 cylinder I guess will have to do one a year . And it still has always blown a flame and so do my other tractors .

Now, roll the flywheel BACKWARD and stop when you see the pump line move again. If it's more than 4 or 5 degrees engine has TOO MUCH pump drive line gear wear. Pull the tach four bolt cover off and see if the cam and oil pump/injection driven gears are worn sharp, if so it's time for new parts. The front cam/crank gears can get loose over time too.

Well heres a little more information Ive lost oil pressure I noticed when I started on this project maybe the oil pump has to much wear ? I cant turn the injection pump far enough with pliers to line the marks up

Rolled it back and forth a couple times and the lines are lined up now so definitely have some oil pump gear lash and maybe pump wear ?
