I have a new to me 1948 JD M that I am going to put new tires on. I have done this myself before but on steel rims. Are there any tricks for doing it on cast iron rims that I need to know before starting? I sure don t want to break one of them. TIA

The rims on the front are cast iron with no lug nuts. The wheel bearings and castle nuts hold the rims on the spindles.

Hopefully photos of rims and hubcaps.

Had new front tires put on my '49 Model M a few months ago. Local tire shop did it while I watched. Didn't see any issue with the cast iron wheel. Be sure you clean and re-grease the bearings. Mine were full of rust but cleaned up just fine.

I'm right behind you. My '48 needs front tubes, and I suspect both wheels will need a little refinishing once they are taken apart.
