Rollomatic question

My brother has a 730, I have a 720. Both
have Rollomatic fronts with 7.5L-15 front
tires. On the 730, the tires are almost
touching at their closest point. On the
720, they are spaced apart. Both sets of
wheels seem to have the same offsets. And
both are bolted on with the dish the same
way.

When he first bought his 730, I remember 1
wheel was spaced out further than the
other. Someone told him it had been
repaired with parts from a different front
end was the cause. He tried a few parts
from a boneyard and got it straightened
out. That was 20 years ago though and we
don't remember what was the cause.

What could be different on Rollomatic
fronts that would cause the front wheel
spacing to be different?

Thanks!

I think Rodney has the answer. There are 2 left and 2 right knuckles shown in the parts catalog. A footnote indicates 1 set is Heavy Duty. The part descriptions show the 4 different casting numbers.

You and your brother could check the casting numbers on your tractors and see who has the Heavy Duty Rollomatic.

Ok. Searching around a little I see that the heavy duty version has 4 bolts on the one cap where the regular one has 3. Mine has 4 so I must have the heavy duty one. I'll have to look at the 730.

I thought I had read there was a heavy duty rollomatic. I guess I figured the wheel spacing would stay the same with either. Apparently not.

Thanks!

Four bolt caps are new generation front ends. My neighbor used 3020 hubs on his 720 so he could use a wider rim as the hub flanges are different between 2 cylinder and new gen hubs. Bolt patterns for the posts are the same on both. I have 2 heavy duty rollomatics to go on 3020 next week for an organic farmer to cultivate with. Tom
