How much horsepower does a hydraulic pump need

Starting down my diagnostic checks today . Needed to
get the hydraulic oil up to temperature so i hooked my
trusty jumper hose up and cycled the scv .

Of course this is at 2500 rpm as hard as shell run . So with the transmission warmed up I ran the tests according to the service manual I havent gone so far as unhooking the shift lever yet but no drag at all in the first two tests and the transmission shifts nice and snappy so I dont think the problem is in the transmission.

My guess viewing the height of the flame is fuel delivery is set "too high"!!

If just operating the hydraulic pump and ''overfueled'' it would ''OVERSPEED''. Pulling it's guts out on the dyno would be another matter.

Dunno what he's got going on, injection pump timing, ''bad'' injectors, or perhaps a clogged air intake, but that jet of flame is just NUTS for a lightly loaded engine!

What do you think, Jim?

Been that way for 6 years and its not been babied I
havent done anything with the pump it came to me the
way it Is . I dont have one tractor that doesnt throw
an orange cone when worked hard

There is some small print I didnt notice at first when I went to the calculator provided by surplus center it says horsepower is for electric motors for gas engines double the horsepower.
