I have a chance to buy a 950 tractor cheap because it has a cracked block into the water jacket. It is located behind starter. It has a yanmar 3 cylinder engine and I was curious if any one has a used block and what would be the going price

There are very few of those engines sold used. They are a good tractor and are very dependable and light on fuel. But the parts are getting scarce and and pretty costly. Most of the engine parts on my 650 had to come from Mother Deere and were quite costly. One piston with rings was ~$150.00. If it has a ''J'' in the model number that means it is exclusive to Deere and they charge accordingly. The crack block most likely could be fixed with the right repair shop.

Is the crack ''structural'' (as in the tractor is about to break in half), or from freezing?
