Hydraulic pump questions

Should the front pump an 20 series tractor be fairly easy to turn by hand or really hard ? Im just about to delve into why my tractor is lugging down so hard constant load on the ending at all times . Transmission shifts fine and smooth but Im going to go through the transmission drag test in the manual . Transmission Lube pressure is ok according to the gauge anyway . Also going to check the output of the transmission pump to see what its doing .

The front pumps typically do NOT turn easily by hand especially once they have been placed in service and filled with oil.

Does the front pump have an (optional) manual destroker?

If so, destroke the pump and note if engine load changes/decreases.

If it DOES, that would be a sign of a ''high pressure leak to sump''.

The hydraulic component where this is going on will heat up quickly, and, often there may be some unusual ''hydraulic noise'' there.

Also, have you checked the hydraulic filter and suction screen for metal particles?

(quoted from post at 15:58:06 03/31/23) Changed the filter it was clean havent pulled the
screen yet . No strange noises in the hydraulic system
when working it .

''No strange noises in the hydraulic system
when working it.''

In this case, we are MORE concerned what the system sounds like WITHOUT any functions being used.

If no high pressure leaks the pump should be destroked and QUIET, and there shouldn't be any flowing/rushing/squealing noises at the steering valve, brake valve, remote valve(s) or hitch valve (IF it has a 3-point).

Does it have a loader installed?

Yes a loader plumbed into the remotes no valve . No
noises with system at idle either . Not sure if Im
chasing engine transmission or hydraulic problems yet

Promise that if the connections are updated to direct and ported filter return . You will be much pleased with the improvement in operation .

Already have one set up that way plan to do this one
two eventually but right now thats the least of its
worries . I return fo the rockshaft return line no
acrobatics when changing filters which I do once a year
regardless
