hello everyone, on my (B) after it warns up it back fires through the intake, are the valves unadjusted, what lash should they be. thanks

.020 intake and exhaust both I believe is spec but Most people turn them all the way in then back off about 1/3 turn of adjusting screw which is 2 flats of the jam nut. To check actual lash you would need a magnetic base and dial indicator since the tappets and pushrods are round

Not a bad thing to check. Perhaps fuel screw needs turned out a bit as that can be a sign its lean. A just a tiny bit of smoke is ok keeps from backfiring it seems. Any change in the fuel itself? Switched to ethanol or away from it perhaps

When warmed up; it back fires through the intake; another thought could be a sticking intake valve, the valve sticking open... Adjust the engines valves with a hot engine..
