Oil pressure switch on 3020 Diesel

How can I access the oil pressure switch to replace it? Can't put a wrench on it ... or even pliers.

Have you tried an actual matching, short, oil sender socket?

If that won't work and the crankcase vent tube isn't rusted tightly into the engine block behind the frame rail you can pull it up and out of the way (will have to remove the hood to get it all the way out).

If you do that, put a new O-ring in the valve cover before poking the tube back into place.

There is a special socket for those senders,,I have one that I got back in the 70's,,not sure if they are available any more,,but with a long extension and a wobble it works well..If you don't have one you may need to remove the breather pipe to get a pair of channel locks on it.

Tim, is there a JD number for that socket? I'm assuming that it is the same for a 4010. My sender is leaking oil and needs to be replaced. I'm going to see what is online for availability.

Most any auto parts store will have several oil sender sockets to choose from.

Take the new sender along and find the one that fits.

If more than one fits, choose the shorter one.
