A head repair

The manifold gasket blew out at the right corner. I let it go too long so it ate out the manifold and head at the exhaust port. Took it to a guy I
know and he brazed it up and machined .025 off. Came out nice.

(quoted from post at 19:17:16 03/14/23) nice job. just work it too hard the brass will melt. lol.

Agreed. Welding with nickel alloyed filler is pretty permanent, and almost as machinable as 35 gray iron castings. I did a frozen/split "B" block that way about 25+ years ago and it was still holding and invisible when it sold last summer.

The guy who did it was a sometime welding instructor at Lincoln's welding school and thought that arc welding it would be risky. I agreed. I was going to braze it myself but I don't do much of that so let him do it. I was going to file it flat but he has a Bridgeport and went ahead and milled it too. I'll get my die maker on and clean up the edge so it will not show.

Would a head get any hotter than a manifold and that is the way they fixed a cracked manifold?
